2016 Summer Credit Recovery Program & Attendance Make-Up

 

Attendance Make-up:

Students who failed due to attendance can make up their hours in one of two ways:

1.      Monday through Thursday from 8:00am until 12:00pm (see weekly schedule below).  There will be a charge of $5.00 per class period recovered.  All students who are making up attendance will be registered in an

APEX course or will work on summer reading requirements.  All hours must be completed by the last day

of Summer School.

2.      Students who do not have any classes to recover academically who only owe for attendance may volunteer

to complete community service.  There are a number of opportunities which must be pre-approved by administration.  All volunteer hours must be performed at a non-profit organization.  Forms must be signed off by a supervisor and turned in.  Hours must be turned in every Monday or hours will not be counted.  There is NO charge for making up hours through community service. 

A maximum of 5 hours is allowed.

 

Registration: Students should bring their report cards with them to registration. Once students are registered, they will begin working in their classes. Registration will take place based on their grade placement for the 2015-2016 school year.  Please park in the bus parking lot and enter through the double doors.  DO NOT ENTER THROUGH THE FRONT OFFICE.  Registration is as follows:

 

Monday June 13th

Seniors: 8:00 AM at SHS      

Juniors: 9:00 AM at SHS

Sophomores: 10:00 AM at SHS

Freshmen: 11:00 AM at SHS

 

Courses Offered:

All core English, Math, Science, and Social Studies courses offered at Swansea High Freshman Academy and Swansea High School.  Spanish, keyboarding, and IBA are also available. 

 

Summer Schedule:

All sessions are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM 

Week 1 – 6/13 to 6/16             Week 2 – 6/20 to 6/23             Week 3 – 6/27 to 6/30            

CLOSED – 7/4 to 7/7             Week 4 – 7/11 to 7/14             Week 5 – 7/18 to 7/21

Week 6 – 7/25 to 7/28

 

Credit Recovery Program Guidelines and Expectations:

  1. Students must arrive daily by 8:00 AM and have transportation available at 12:00.
  2. Students must enter through the bus parking lot.
  3. All students will work on APEX units during Summer School hours and may continue to work at home since this is an internet based programs.  However, they must come to SHS to have tests proctored.
  4. All SHS rules and procedures will apply during Summer School, including procedures for leaving early, cell phone policy, and dress code expectations.
  5. Students whom are tardy up to three times will be required to meet with administration before returning to Summer School 
  6. Students may work on their credits solely from home.  Students still must attend registration in order to be signed up for their classes.  Students are responsible for calling SHS during regularly scheduled summer school hours when they need a quiz reset on APEX.
  7. Any student that fails a quiz 3 times will be required to complete the study guide for that unit before their quiz will be reset.
  8. All tests on APEX MUST be proctored at SHS during Summer School hours.  Students who are working from home should report to SHS at 8:00 AM to have their test administered.
  9. All diagnostic tests are only given one time.  Students who pass the diagnostic can exempt the unit.  Diagnostic tests must be proctored at SHS.
