Make-up:
Students who
failed due to attendance can make up their hours Monday through Thursday from
8:00am until 12:00pm (see weekly schedule below).There will be a charge of $5.00 per class period
recovered.

Attached is a parking map and document that
explains graduation parking for 2012 graduations. Due to the area construction, parking availability and handicap drop off has recently changed. Please
note that graduates are being required to park at the Horizon garage on
Assembly Street and use the 2 pedestrian bridges (Assembly and Blossom)
to get to the Coliseum, parking attendants
will be on each lot and prohibit the graduates from parking in the
Coliseum surface lots. If you have further questions please contact the High School at 568-1100.

The Swansea High School and Freshman Academy Science Olympiad Team competed
at the State Science Olympiad Competition at Newberry College on March 17th. The team finished 6th in the state. Please congratulate them all on their fine representation of Swansea. The team members are Brooke Rosier, Hope Rosier, Kyle May, Angela Henry, Jacob Cox,Timothy Urbanek, Jenna Kinard, Brandi Brogden, Hannah Santos, Matthew Neese, Kayla Campbell, Ryan Sharpe, Leianne Johnson, and Tori Snelling
Kyle May and Ryan Sharpe finished in fourth place in the Robot Arm competition. Brooke Rosier and Ryan Sharpe finished in third place in the Gravity Vehicle
competition, and 6th place for their Tower.

Congratulations to Dawn Sargent the new SHS 2012-2013 teacher of the year. The
Teacher of the Year program celebrates excellence and strengthens the
teaching force by honoring and recognizing exceptional teachers at the
district level. Below you will find a brief biography of the teacher
that was chosen.
Dawn Sargent
is currently in her eleventh year of teaching English. She graduated with a
B.A. in English from Clemson University and with a M.Ed. in Higher Education
Leadership and Administration from Jones International University. She is also
certified to teach AP English Literature and Composition.
Ms. Sargent
is involved with several extracurricular activities at SHS. She is the
co-advisor for STUCO (student council), the advisor for The Tiger Chronicle
(the student newspaper), the coordinator for detention and attendance make-up,
the chairperson for the English Department, and a member of the School
Leadership Team.
Ms. Sargent,
an Elloree native, currently lives with her husband Randy Sargent, Jr. in
Swansea and attends Gantt Street Baptist Church in Cayce, SC.

Congratulations to the following HOSA members who competed in the 2012 HOSA Competitive Events Program on March 8th
and 9th in Charleston! The following students are:
Hannah Santos- First place and gold medal recipient for Pathophysiology Knowledge Test,
Cynthia Alvarez- First place and gold medal recipient for Outstanding HOSA Chapter Event,
O’Brien Sutton- Certificate of Recognition for Chapter Newsletter,
Terrance Salley- 4th place and certificate of recognition in the Healthy Lifestyles Event,
Adrianna Muller, A’Brianna Lykes & Rolanda Johnson- Top six
certificate of recognition for the Creative Problem Solving Event.
Students
who placed first, second, or third in their respective event will
represent Swansea High School in the National Competitive Events Program
in Orlando Florida
in June.
Again,
Congratulations to all of these HOSA members who represented Swansea
High School in such an outstanding manner through their leadership ,
skills and knowledge
of medical related events.
If
you see these students, please congratulate them for their outstanding
efforts. All of these students with the exception of Hannah Santos,
attended this conference
and competed in the competitive events program for the very first time!
